Have a full maintenance done, ask people you know personally, not a garage as it's not really worth it. This means having all the oils and filters changed etc. if the fuel economy is much worse than it should be (find out online or ask other people that drive similar cars) then maybe look into having the fuel filter changed. Have your tyre pressures checked and adjusted accordingly for better economy. Also try some injector cleaner, seriously, it's like 9 bucks every year, it helped alot for my mr2 :P before i was getting only like 250 k's out of the 44 L tank, now i'm getting 320~400, obviously my driving has matured as of late, shifting earlier haha. Replace all your spark plugs and check the ignition leads too, maybe for some extra comfort (only if needed) have your gearbox oil flushed/changed, theres a company on Moselle ave that can give you a free quote for that. Doing all this still won't set you back very much at all, thinking under 400 bucks, if the work is done yourself and should help with economy and comfort. Why do you want a smaller car? Is it because you think it will end up more reliable or simply for easier parking? Fact is, anything you buy for that price range is gonna be a piece of junk, very likely to crap out on you or be pretty old and rusty in places you can't see and fail its next inspection. Especially for a person with your mechanical knowledge, I wouldn't recommend taking the risk. Now only prob. is how uncool that Honda of yours is :S |

| 633188 | 2008-01-27 09:32:00 | I must try some of that (injector cleaner). I can't get better than about 12-13L per 100km around town in my Accord, and I know it should be better than that. | george12 (7) | ||
| 633189 | 2008-01-27 18:11:00 | I sold a toyota starlet hatch with 201000 on the clock 3 years ago. I still see it running around town these days. Sold for $800 at that time. Shortly I will be off to work in my RAV4. |
