785326 2009-06-28 09:19:00 There's nothing really wrong with Windows media player except there's not much right with it either.

I have noticed that with each new version of WMP they kill off more and more visualizations.

Winamp has many more visualizations and is much more plugin friendly.

It also really whips the llama's ass.

Visualizations don't make a music player play music. Which is what they are for.

The fight over the "best" player is going to rage forever, it comes down to personal taste in the end - I have my albums organized enough that Winamp does the job very well, without having to use their media library which always used to suck, haven't tried it for a while though.

I would agree with that. Near when it first came out it was good but now I can't stand it especially after using K3b.

785331 2009-06-30 12:08:00 In my opinion Nero 5.5 was awesome but lacking in some features. Nero 6 I consider to be the best version. Everything after that has been nothing but bloated.

Sure it's great for doing all kinds of multimedia stuff but if you just want to burn a CD there are much better options.

Of course, you don't HAVE to install all the extra programs with Nero. Still, if I could only use one version it would be Nero 6

785332 2009-06-30 23:28:00 I like Linux but don't use it as my main OS on the main computer for the reason you said it is always changing on an almost weekly basis

I don't know of a distribution that is updated more frequently than 6 monthly. You don't have to update if you don't want to! -- or are you talking about the more incremental updates? Again you don't have to install them. You may have good reasons to not use Linux, but I can't see how this is one of them.

785333 2009-06-30 23:43:00 Amarok rocks.
Except 2.x - avoid that like the plage and stick with 1.4. The 2.x UI is a complete and utter dysfunctional failure.

Yes I seem to remember striking 2.x on a live cd and not liking the look of it.
