632983 2008-01-24 21:15:00 Thanks for all that. Looking through my paperwork, I get a special OneCard that give me an employee discount of 5%, after six months. And there are a few restrictions on it, like the stuff brought with it must be consumed in the address I put on my forms, etc. Oh, and I also get a few other perks, like low-interest loans, counseling, and all that. Oh, and the profit margin is very thin, eg; if one carton of mike splits open, you need to sell 30 more to recover the cost. It's the volume of product that they sell which makes them so rich. In their largest distribution warehouse, they have over 150 trucks just delivering stock daily. ubergeek85 (131)
632984 2008-01-25 03:42:00 Why should the Supermarket make any money out of employees purchases, if they truly valued them they would let them have decent perks. Employees should get goods at cost price.

I don't believe the Supermarkets are struggling to stay afloat, I have watched the modifications to the Countdown Supermarket in Moorhouse Avenue Chch on the old Big Fresh site for a year now and they are in no hurry at all to be open for business, they must be rolling in money.

haha i reckon, i drive past there everyday and nothing really changes, im in the trades thou and the guys working there are never in a hurry

632985 2008-01-25 08:25:00 Where-ever I wrote "perks", read "incentive to stay in a sh*tty, minimum wage job with no future prospects", it is in the employer's interests to do this if he/she does not want to have continuously disgruntled staff moving on.

But since the economy has been manipulated by new right neo con economists over the last 20 years so that there is always about 5 - 10% of the population continuously looking for a job there is always a new robot to take the position of the old one that has left and the employers are all too willing to play along with this, may they rot in Hell.

A special place reserved in Hell for Roger Douglas and Richard Prebble and all of their ilk.

NEVER FORGET.

632987 2008-01-25 08:50:00 Roger Douglas is/was a Proto-Nazi and Richard Prebble was an over-zealous pawn, sock puppet (the ones that you activate by putting your hand up the lower orifice) of the American Neo Cons.

Neither of them had an original thought in their entire lives.
