632905 2008-01-23 08:54:00 Well, last time I tried it, milk worked exactly like the commercials. The meat did what it was purchased for, and neither caused any discomfort in the nether regions. I haven't yet had a blue wool of death.

On the other hand, MicroS - - - - -
:badpc:

Dont have a problem with microsoft. They do create and produce software. They are constantly improving and innovating new ideas - if you dont like it then you can try alternatives, apple, linux etc.

Milk is the same as it has been ever since God created the cow. Milk comes out the same place and last time I looked there wasnt a shortage of cows as there is of oil - so why do we pay so much? There isnt any other real alternatives (soy is not milk so dont go there)

When I was young I remember 4c for 600ml glass bottles delivered to your mailbox. 30 years on the price of milk is now $3.50 for 2L and you have to drive to get it. So at todays prices 600ml would cost $1.05. That is an increase of approx 2600%!! Of course there are other considerations like the cost of inflation, production costs but that is still a staggering increase.

Microsoft products go down over time.

632906 2008-01-23 09:23:00 I will agree that MS products go down. Often.
I do use Linux. :) (MS is too hard for me.)
Real milk came in pints and had cardboard or aluminium lids on the bottle. ;) My wages have gone up a shade since then too, and we are all in the super-tax bracket.
I am afraid that farmers raise their produce to sell, so they would be a bit unwise to sell to the lowest bidder.
Mrs. Farmer would kick up a bit rough if he arrived home and announced that he was letting the milk go for 4 cents a pint to the customer. :horrified
And by way of contrast, 50 years ago my first car was a Model A coupe paid for from lawn mowing money. (Lots of lawns, not much money.) How many lawns would I have to mow to buy that same car now? And it is 50 years older! I only owned the car a few weeks and some ratbag Nordmeyer apparently got to hear of it, dashed out a black budget and bunged fuel prices through the roof. That rapidly taught me how to drive economically which was probably a good thing, but didn't seem like it then.

632907 2008-01-23 20:39:00 Did you fill out this form.

tvnz.co.nz
:)

I just did. If many more of us fill in this form and make complaints, then Fair Go might see there is demand for a story.

I complained about Windows being pre-installed. Computers should not have an operating system pre-installed! You are not forced to pay for the french fries at Maccas when you only want the burger. You want the fries, you get the combo! Want windows (bad choice), get the combo. Makes sense. No?

632908 2008-01-23 23:43:00 If the american supreme court can't get MS to sell competitively then who can? They've been fought pretty much everywhere over this, and nothing's changed. What are fair go going to do? Burst into Bill Gates' office with a camera? Unlikely.

If it's cheaper in the states then just buy online... I don't see what the issue is. Businesses tend to sell things for what they'll move for. Granted vista doesn't tend to be moving too well. But that's their issue. If you want a product for less then be smart and shop around. MS has been sued pretty much constantly for quite a while now about this sort of thing, so I can't see Fair Go having much impact here.

Mister Harbies. Where do you buy? If you get a comp from a computer store then you can usually add and remove whatever you want. Some online suppliers even do that for you if you search hard enough. Or you could make your own.

Also... people buy milk for this price, it's the same deal. Why would they bring the price down? Or you could start marketing an alternative. Buy a farm, sell us milk in glass bottles with paper lids at 6c a pint. And you could go about building a lawnmowers car while you're at it.

But when it was only 4c a pint, the taxpayer was subsidising it. The subsidy was removed and now market prices rule. Wouldn't have it any other way - but then I don't drink as much milk in my dotage as I did as a kid.... johcar (6283)

I expect as much but when coke is so much cheaper it would make sense to reintroduce subsidies again in light of the current obesity rates - but that sound too simple a solution.

632911 2008-01-24 08:58:00 And the milk now is mostly water ;)

It used to be free, at schools, served warm in dinky little bottles that rattled like the devil when the milk monitors carted them inside after the sunbathing exercise was over. The afternoon milk was a bit off as a rule. Ah, the good old days.

632912 2008-01-24 09:32:00 Quit often I spewed my guts out after drinking that school warm milk. Was alright in the winter time though.

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine . . . and those who don't .

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom,
in water there is bacteria .

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we
drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E . coli) - bacteria found in feces .

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop .

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting .

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health .

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water
and be full of **** .
