632167 2008-01-20 23:43:00 It is important to make sure you get a white one. The red ones are very temperamental. A friend had a red VW and it was hit by a bus, then after the repair, her upholstery was chewed by a horse. It was replaced by a white one that lasted for years.
The old 6 volt ones used to cost a lot less for fuel.

632168 2008-01-21 00:11:00 Altezza no questions asked. Friend's got one and it's all sexy and sleek when juiced up.

And on that note, don't get one that has been modified(juiced up)

632169 2008-01-21 00:37:00 Does this mean that VW are now the "other people's car"?
With a bit of luck it's the "other people's car"

comment based on that a car that hasn't been modified and I mean even alloys, has probably had a easier life then one that has.

632172 2008-01-21 01:39:00 I am not aware of any redeeming features of euro cars, the car to which you refer is a Lexus and probably the best in world. Cicero (40)

Not sure if that is right about white cars I had a white car and it crashed.
Although I was pissed, driving back from the Renwick Tavern.
I had a purple Valiant Ranger I never crashed that maybe Purple is the right colour for a car.

632174 2008-01-21 02:22:00 My Toyota has recently reached 301000 KM.
Same motor, same gearbox.
No, not using oil yet.

How many times have you been around the world in it :p

Actually my friend is ahead of you in his Nissan Pulsar at around 320,000km; motor never been touched (well as far as he is aware).

632176 2008-01-21 03:22:00 That KM-Miles factor got me thinking . . so I checked my Isuzu Amigo's mileage and converted it to Km . . .

291,235 MILES = 468,697 . 3KM . . . at about 225,000 miles/362,102 km I did a clutch and a rear wheel/axle seal about 2½ years ago .

I think that little 2 . 6L 4-banger 5-speed manual transmission is pretty stout . . and so is the rest of the running gear . . . and I am not easy on it . . ask anyone who has had a ride with me .

Oh . . . I did the brakes a year or so ago . . they didn't need it . . . but I did them anyway . . . and a set of Platinum NGK spark plugs about three years ago .

That's all .

Funny thing is, I never wanted to keep the little guy . . . just bought him for a temp set of wheels while I was building a new engine for my K5 Blazer . . . but decided it was such a kick to drive I kept him for myself .
