785892 2009-08-04 23:35:00 If theres no solution, I've been advised by Eden Computers in Auckland to buy this External HDD. They said they can put it together for me. Here are the links:

Welland 3.5" SATA To USB2.0/eSATA External Hard Drive Enclosure
www.edencomputers.co.nz

Western Digital 3.5" SATAII Caviar Green 1TB 7200RPM 32MB
www.edencomputers.co.nz

Is the price decent and the product good quality?

785893 2009-08-04 23:48:00 The link Pctek posted has some very good drives -

Sharaz1, Farasha1, computerszone, and some others are all the same guy(s), the office is in blockhouse bay. Never, ever EVER buy anything from him. He is he dodgiest Asian crook you'll find.

What's he known now as :waughh:

All those usernames has been closed by TM.
Would love to know about this fella, I am not from Auckland and never bought from computer stuff off TM since (good quality) online stores are priced not bad, it even saves me the hassle to get them when I am abroad. How old is this fella, is he Indian going with his usernames, does he have a job or is it just on the dole and doing this business on TM importing from Asia? Are the items new or are they used, is he tax registered? I have read that IRD are trying to crack down on prolific sellers on TM and TM have said they have complied and released information as per the act requests.

Let me warn you that that drive is very slow.

It only runs at around 5400rpm and is 10-20% slower than the black series.

The black series is a bit more expensive though. But price wise, I'm paying around $217.00. Is that a decent price?? I'm using e-Sata anyway so speed shouldn't be a concern, should it?

Sorry man, can't help you much here. I haven't purchased anything from this trader but trademe are doing their best to remove this guy. 1000 negative feedbacks is crazy!! I feel sorry for those people that have been sent bad I.T products. I heard he was Asian, very rude, lied about the 1yr warranty, swore to his own customers. Thts what I heard from peoples feedback.

That depends on what you will be mainly using this drive for. Backups?

785898 2009-08-06 03:00:00 Vantec does a good 3.5" HDD enclosure that includes eSATA (under $90 on Ascent without HDD). I bought one and chucked a 500GB drive in - works well (although I've only been using the USB connection so far).

Western Digital does some of its My Book range with eSATA. Slightly expensive, but I like that they turn off with your computer. Ascent has a 640GB one for $256. This disk is a faster 7200RPM drive.

785899 2009-08-06 03:16:00 I have a feeling that the account name "mobiledepot" is sharaz, farasha new account. The seller sells similar items to the false trader sharaz.

I'm not so sure about mobiledepot. I asked a question on one of their auctions and they said pickup was in Glen Eden. Last time I checked Farasha operated somewhere in Manukau or something.

Pctek tells it perfectly, don't go near Farasha or any of his aliases, even with a 40-foot barge pole.

They also try to sell stuff through http://www.farasha.co.nz/

You could be right. It looked like mobiledepot was selling similar items to farasha. I guess we all have to be extremely careful with trademe sellers.
