634932 2008-01-29 00:25:00 There's an article in the Sydney Herald about a couple who went to enormous lengths to track the owner of a camera that was left in the New York cab they had just hired.

Maybe this tip has been published somewhere before but I always start the memory card with a shot of a card with all my relevant details on.

634933 2008-01-29 02:05:00 Good idea, except it would be a hassle having to retake a shot with your details on it everytime you wiped the card.

Some cameras allow you to "lock" photos which would be handy in this instance if it prevents locked pics being deleted. I'll have to check my camera's settings.

Even if you can't lock the image it's no big deal to to wipe all the images except the first one

It is when you have to delete 200 or so photos one by one . . .

My camera does "protect" images so I can "Delete All" whilst keeping the protected pics . Formatting the memory card deletes them however, so that is to be avoided if wishing to keep protected ones .

At the risk of being a little pedantic it's still not that big a deal compared with increasing your chances of getting your camera back . 200pics can be individually scrubbed in 15 to 20 minutes at the outside and some cameras let you delete nine at a time

634938 2008-01-30 00:44:00 I think you are missing the point. I said the idea of taking a pic with personal details on it is a good one but if I wasn't able to lock a pic with my details on it then I would just take a new pic everytime I wiped the memory card. There's no way I'm ever going to sit there for 15 to 20 minutes deleting pics individually if I can help it. FoxyMX (5)
