Yep will work great - NOT. Its a proven fact that if people are left to do what they want, it soon becomes a nightmare, and when it all turns to custard how long to get things back up and going again, since no IT people on site to repair the problem ? Sure some places go overboard, but not every place. |

Ohhh Yeah - Totally agree - some go overboard, or whats common is they set things up so only "they Know" how things are working / run. Went to a place like that last week - the IT guy decided to leave after a long time disagreement with the company - the whole system was configured to how he wanted it, some of the ways it was set up was a wonder it even worked at all.:waughh: Took more time to figure out what was done than fix the problem. Makes it harder for Outsourced IT if its like that. |

| 634863 | 2008-01-29 03:28:00 | Every site I have ever contracted at that also had outsourced their IT function has had major issues with both turnaround time and 'local' knowledge (understanding why task A should follow task B in priority from a business continuity point of view) . The users hate it because they can't get the job done (whatever the job happens to be), because there is no personal relationship - just a (often non-English as a first language) voice at the end of the phone . I chuckled at this too: "Xero is poised to cash in on the utility computing boom . Its product is an accounting program which is sold under the software-as-a-service model . But he points out a catch, particularly evident in New Zealand: innovation at the software level is outpacing infrastructure investment, so if utility computing really takes off, the telecommunications network could buckle under the load . " This last bit is news???? Don't we all already know that the telecommunications infrastructure in NZ is incapable of providing a 21st century level of service???? |

Have you ever written batch files? May I also suggest you change your signature as you appear to have not caught up with the real world so far. |

| 634867 | 2008-01-30 07:03:00 | Think about it from the IT department angle. They are commonly dealing with people who shouldnt in an ideal world be using a computer. Their computer skills would be on par with my ballet dancing skills. Out sourcing just means you have to wait longer and get grossly overcharged than having your own IT geeks. C1 |
