786609 2009-06-28 10:29:00 Hey guys have been having trouble with a bsod saying "IRQL_NOT _LESS_OR_EQUAL" on boot and wont let me get into safe mode or go through last known configuration. The Technical info on the Blue Screen is 0x0000000A, (0x0a1f001b,x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804E88OF) when i boot in safe mode the BSOD is the same except for the tech info in brackets being (0x0a27001b, x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804EBEFC). I have changed the ram and that didint fix the problem so im confused could it be that i just need to reformat or a hardware problem?

thanks for any help :thanks

786610 2009-06-28 10:45:00 Welcome to PF1:)

Is should mention a driver or a file on the BSOD.

What is it?

Have you installed any new hardware?

786611 2009-06-28 11:13:00 alright ive searched the bsod and it really dosent have anything refering to a hardware or software message and im guessing that leads us nowhere could it be like hardrive or graphics card problemo? bin3287 (15049)
786612 2009-06-28 11:27:00 Could be a hardware problem, but do you have an XP CD?

You could try a repair install:

# Make sure that the CD or DVD drive is the first priority startup device. See your computer documentation for information about how to do this.
# Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD or DVD drive, and then restart your computer.
# When the instruction to "Press any key to boot from CD" appears, press a key. Your computer starts from the Windows XP CD.
# When the computer starts from the CD, the system verifies your hardware, and then prompts you to select one of the following options:

* To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER.
* To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.
* To exit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

# Press ENTER.
# Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
# A box lists your current Windows XP installation, and then the computer prompts you to select one of the following options:

* To repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R.
* To continue installing a fresh copy of Windows XP without repairing, press ESC.

# Press R. After you repair Windows XP, you may have to reactivate Windows XP if you changed some hardware.

Have you installed any new hardware recently? Did you run Windows Update and update drivers?

786614 2009-06-28 11:49:00 Unplug everything except motherboard, ram, cpu and HDD

See if it boots. IF its doesn't, see if it works in the repair install...

786616 2009-07-03 21:30:00 You need to boot off the Windows CD to do a reapir install.
What about safe mode, does it boot into that?

As for the hardware I'd suggest you stick to ASUS or Gigabyte for graphics and Western Digital or Seagate for hard drives.

But there is no point in buying more hardware until you know what is causing the problem. It's generally a driver error, not a failing hardware problem.

786617 2009-07-03 23:58:00 believe it or not but i cant boot with the cd and safe mode crashes..i cant reformat cause it blue screens in the windows cd and with safe mode it gets to the windows logo loading screen and crashes like all other modes. What do you reckon? I picked the Zotac g card cause its got higher benchmarks and its cheaper then the other brands of the same model. bin3287 (15049)
786618 2009-07-04 00:36:00 ohh i just remembered that my mobo had a sound card and all and it worked fine for a while but a couple of months ago the mobo coudnt detect it so could it be a mobo problem ?? when i could load windows i reinstalled the driver for the soundcard and it still didint work. bin3287 (15049)
