633402 2008-01-24 13:49:00 dunno how that place makes any money anyway with their return policy

i know an individual who simply goes back every 7 days to return a game and pick up another. if he liked the game he simply images the cd

kinda the worst sort of piracy, directly harming the retailer

633403 2008-01-24 21:30:00 Eftpos means exactly what you say. But in this case there were no funds transferred to the retailer were there! The point of sale presumably still exists but may not later due to people like you who would rather avoid an obligation to actually pay for goods received. Also I said in an earlier post, "Finally what about the situation between you and your Wife? It appears she would like to pay and you don't. If she thinks you are less than honest what will this do to your relationship?"

Eh, LOL, your having a laugh, like a mature relationship would have problems with this?, really!

633404 2008-01-24 21:31:00 Woah! This thread has grown and grown... like it took internet bought suppliments. Does sweep really think that you have to prove yourself morally to your wife on a day to day basis? She may disagree with you, but hows it going to affect your marriage? Pah. Good points either side, though zqwerty summed up what I think best. They'd do you, why not reciprocate when you get a chance? Or you could prove to some store clerk somewhere that you're morally infallible... I can see that paying off bigtime.

LOL, I just had to comment on that!!

633405 2008-01-24 22:13:00 For what it's worth, I think it's wrong to buy things without paying for them, no matter who's honest mistake it was.

I'm not judging you, just letting you know what I think. If I was in such a situation there'd be no question of whether or not to pay them.

It'd be like if you left $80 at a supermarket accidentally. Would you expect the checkout operator to shout out or run after you and give the money back (hint: yes), or pocket it?

I've left valuable things at shops before that could have been easily pocketed and the shopkeeper or checkout operater has always been honest and returned it.

Finally, if you want to bring Karma into this (not an area of expertise for me, or that I believe in it at all, but...) returning the money is good Karma, and if Karma was to 'pay you back' for the ATM thing, it wouldn't be via an opportunity to steal from someone else - that would be the opposite of Karma. If you really believe in Karma, you believe that your [wife's] honest act of giving the money back will be 'repaid' in some positive way. Correct me if I'm wrong people.

Anyway, don't think of the company, think of the employee who could well lose his/her own money because of this.

Ah well I'd like her to, but I'd expect her not to.

My missus once left her wallet sitting by the veges in the supermarket. Didn't realise till she got to the checkout. Went back expecting the worse, and there it was waiting for her.

Honesty may not surround us, but when you come across it it sure makes you feel good.

Well some people just might have a problem and some will not.

In the final analysis it is between you, your wife and the sales person. I can't convince you to be 100% honest.

There are some times where it pays to be less than honest with your wife.

For example where the wife comes home with a new outfit and she says, "Do you like the dress?" You reply "No, not really (because you actually do not)."

I actually did this once and lived on cold shoulder for around a week.

You can LOL as much as you want. This will not prevent me sleeping at night as I can't hear from here.

633409 2008-01-25 01:21:00 A couple of years ago when paying for groceries at the supermarket I was about to key in my PIN when I noticed that the amount being deducted was $5,000 when it should have been $50.00. The checkout girl had not pressed the decimal point button hard enough.

I often wonder what would have happened if I had not noticed this and had it corrected before the transaction took place. Would the supermarket have contacted me to inform me of the error? If they didn't, would they have given me a hard time when I tried to get it reversed after picking it up on my bank statement a month or two later? Or would they say "Tough luck, you accepted the transaction therefore it's ours"?

That wasn't the first time I have experienced a mistake being made at the EFT-POS terminal. It pays to check the amount before keying in your PIN and ALWAYS wait for the receipt. My husband has a bad habit of often leaving his behind, to my great annoyance since I am the one who reconciles the bank statements.

It certainly does . I accidentally left my coin purse chocka full of coins on the counter at a food court in Melbourne . It wasn't until well over an hour later when I went to pay for something else in the mall that I noticed it missing . I had no idea where it was but on a hunch went back to where we bought lunch from and asked if they had seen it . One of the girls handed it over, to my enormous surprise .

I really didn't expect to see it again and whilst it wasn't a huge amount of money to lose the purse had a lot of sentimental value so I was glad to get it back .

633411 2008-01-25 01:28:00 $5 grand?

Wouldn't have bothered me, If I had 5 grand in the bank I would already have spent it.
