But then you had to ruin it by dragging beneficiary bashing into it, like thats even relevant.

Oh dear PCTek, the fact that I had a go at all the DIShonest fraudsters swayed your opinion? Not relevant?

Jesus H. This has nothing to do with non-NZ companies, I dont even have the decision to go back and pay. Its the wifes decision, she made the transaction in good faith and error that was not realised by the sales person.

I dont even think on reflection that this has anything to do with honesty really.

Do any of you understand what EFT-POS means?

Electronic funds transfer @ point of sale, the point of sale has now ended, transaction finished. No one has been dishonest....

Perhaps even, if the company paid its clerks better, they may have picked up on the error rather than gawk at my beautiful wife?

My wife has now bent my ear, that she is going back to pay them!!

633383 2008-01-24 05:31:00 Small husband and wife owned store. So busy chatting to the wife that neither of us checked the eft pos receipt - declined due to wrong pin. Caught onto it a couple of weeks later when doing the accounts and sent a cheque - with a note of apology.

There again there was that night at Sky City. Only machine we won on all night was the car park machine. It gave me $20.

633384 2008-01-24 05:38:00 Thank you my brother, I will adopt that wording for all my invoices, but will expand it to read errors or omissions. I have had to live with one or two errors where I failed to account travel time or travel costs correctly but did not have an enabling clause in my terms and conditions that would allow me to correct the error.

I never approached the clients about the errors because I considered that it would be bad business politics to reopen an invoice if prior provision had not been made for such an event. Now I have a mechanism to correct that.

Cheers

In some cases if I make a small error, I just live with it. As asking them to pay more due to my error, would probably cause more damage to customer relations, than the amount is worth. It is really only when there is an obvious error where it is going to cost me, that I will pull them up on the error.

633385 2008-01-24 06:11:00 I am surprised you even asked the question.
Ever heard of the words 'moral or 'ethics'
You bringing up your children the same way as you suggest you should act?

I'd like to take this bit further, I like beneficiary bashing, whats your problem with that?

633388 2008-01-24 06:45:00 Your wife has the right idea.

I hope you're not going to nag her after she fixes what was originally just a mistake, but could otherwise become a case of dishonesty.

(Yes, that's the correct word for it, however anyone tries to justify it)

633390 2008-01-24 07:40:00 Now if it was the other way round and the shop had received extra monies from you through some oversight of yours, do you think if they realized later that they would give you the extra money back? Like heck they would. I don't think so.

Businessmen play a hard and fast game, if they make a mistake, I say too bad, they are ripping off right down the line.

633391 2008-01-24 07:56:00 Its a tricky one.

In some ways I say pay up and you will feel good.

In my life I have done some bad things and plenty of good things as well.

If it was a big corporation I'd probably keep it, as zqwerty said they would not chase you and say you overpaid !
