635225 2008-01-30 10:02:00 Can we shoot people who commit crimes or don't go to school? beeswax34 (63)
635226 2008-01-30 10:04:00 Yup ^

Just cause someone leaves school early, or doesn't want to be there, doesn't make them instantly stupid, or a 'bad bugga'

School isn't for everyone, so don't stereotype the ones that drop out.

He still qualified for Harvard btw and attended it for a while too. Yeah, anyone can get to Harvard without school. Get real.

635227 2008-01-30 10:09:00 Shoot them?

How about offer counselling and an emergency benifit?

All these laws that have been made have screwed our society, and Mongrel Helen Clark is pointing the finger of blame at a Budget from a decade ago?

Filthy scum, Endorsed by the government and tolerated by the people.

Kids can ignore school, Destroy property, Bash people, thieve, break the law at will.

Cops can't touch em.

Dad cant touch em

School can't touch em.

Its a free ticket to push the boundreries...all the freakin way to murder.

Which is what we have.

Mongrel Helen needs to take a long hard look at this crap, Give up the social experiment, and hide that fugly face under a bridge somewhere.

635228 2008-01-30 10:50:00 I love school. I'm in 7th form this year.. most of the teachers are pretty good. My design teacher is an awesome guy with years of graphic design experience and my photography teacher is down to earth, honest and very knowledgeble. My Networking (did multimedia with him last year) teacher helped design the fibre optic school network and fibre link to the net. In fact, the students get to study the network in-depth. Anyway, that's going slightly off topic. My point is that I have opportunities and I actually enjoy school because there's decent funding and reasonable teachers (in some subject areas). Its a shame its not the same case for everyone else though. jermsie (6820)

You must be at a rare school indeed.

635230 2008-01-30 13:17:00 Networking is a subject? You must do NCEA then. beeswax34 (63)
635231 2008-01-30 16:25:00 I left school midway through Year 13 (7th form) as I found most of the subjects to be uninteresting and not my cup of tea; will be starting a Dip in ICT in a few weeks. :)

A school leaving age is just ridiculous, I've known certain people that couldn't even scrape past 4th form with all the help god could have given them yet gone on to do apprenticeships, start earning (decent money too) and become self-independent. They've in fact got a good 2-5 year head start on most people that ended going to Uni and doing medicine, engineering, etc.

I want to endorse the above.

Simply can't be put better!

Indeed it is computer networking (LAN, WANS etc), not social networking. CCNA certificate level 1 (Cisco).

635234 2008-01-30 20:14:00 If so many are getting to high school with so much disinterest and dropping out as soon as they are able to then I believe that our primary schools are the ones that have failed them .

Not through any great fault of their own most of the time but due to the curriculum, lack of funding for special cases, lack of good teachers and, perhaps most importantly, lack of good support from home .

By the time children reach high school it is far too late, the damage was done years ago .
