To continue:

I object to organically grown food being touted as “natural.”

To grow a plant “naturally” you need to unnaturally till the soil, unnaturally plant the seed, unnaturally tend the plant by unnaturally watering and unnaturally weeding and generally unnaturally looking after the plant until you unnaturally harvest it.

The only “natural” that springs to mind are the daises and all the other weeds, but because, in most cases, they abound in unnaturally occurring environments, (we ploughed the land at some time) so I’m not so certain. "Natural" dandelion tea, anyone?

I can't see the point of this thread at all.

Are you complaining about advertising "touting" or what? Is this just another stirring thread similar to the telepathic one? Naturally all people should get off this planet and let the planet Earth decide for itself. Then anything will survive or not as the case may be.

Well I would think maybe we just do not plant anything anywhere and let everything just grow anywhere the wind or nature takes it. Go join the Greens if you have not already done so. Go hug a tree. Go hug a Tiger. If you ever have an operation complain very loudly at the chemical compounds that are used for anaesthetics or enjoy the pain.

Your choice.

What are chemicals made of?

Atoms (en.wikipedia.org), the smallest indivisible particle of matter.

633693 2008-01-26 01:52:00 But - but it says EVERYTHING is made of chemicals - am I to stop implicitly accepting PF! thread headings as absolute truth?

Then what are atoms made of?
(I should know, I used to have a couple, but they are easily mislaid.)

Start messing with atoms, and next thing you will find radio-active decay. What about people with TV - what do they get? (Polite answers only please.)
And radio-active decay? That is an oxy-moron for sure. People spend large sums at gymnasiums keeping active to fight off decay. Perhaps the music at gyms is from CD's and is safer.

But did not some person get an atom to split? A New Zealander as well.

:groan: Just for your benefit, Sweep: I am against people who advertise their product as "chemical free" when it plainly is not. Did you not read Holloway's reply? He's on to it - experienced it first hand!

I am against people who advertise their product as "natural" when it plainly is not. How can it be natural when you actively plant, tend and harvest?

Read Enigmur's reply. He too, understands. He quoted another. It's called bacteria. There is good and bad.

Another, in a similar vein to bacteria is cholesterol. Once again, there is good cholesterol and there is bad. The good cholesterol we need - it is essential to our well being - the bad we must shun as it is no good for us at all. But all cholesterol is usually promoted as bad for you.

Read the reply by pctek. He seems to have a reasonable grasp of this thread. In fact all the replies, bar yours, seem to know what it's about.:groan: again!

Well just keep stirring the pot then. Full of your "natural" food of course. As the food is composed of chemicals then just stop eating.
You just seem to have an objection to certain words in advertising and if you think that adverts tell the truth then try the real world.
But I do not need to have the same ideas as you do.

633699 2008-01-26 10:45:00 Well just keep stirring the pot then . Full of your "natural" food of course . As the food is composed of chemicals then just stop eating .

Are you just being obtuse for the fun of it or do you genuinely not understand?

I certainly do have an objection to these words in advertising, but there are many people out there who use those words and use them as gospel . They believe that these foods have no chemicals and are natural and would not consume foods that they see as containing chemicals and were not naturally grown (organic, perhaps) . Both statements are so very far from the truth as to be lies, but certain members of the community at large believe that there are foods that are chemical free and natural .

I am trying to point that out that there are some misguided people out there who would not consume any other food but food that they are led to believe is chemical free and natural . Personally, I could not care less as long as the food I'm eating does me no harm .

I'm sorry to say, that every other respondent to this thread, except yourself, seems to have grasped that point . I'm not certain how I can be more clear . Anyone any suggestions that may make it simpler and easier for Sweep to comprehend?

Bevy 121: Sorry that I mixed up the gender . Sorry pctek . While Bevy is obviously feminine, how do you pick pctek? There is not even the any clues in the avatar . My humblest . I will not forget in future . ** Backs away kowtowing all the way**
