633758 2008-01-25 01:59:00 She's going to have to go back to work soon or she will have to register for the dole. She can only have 2 or 3 million left. Life can be tough.

She couldn't get the dole because she earns too much off the interest/

633759 2008-01-25 03:17:00 She doesn't need to get the dole .. but I heard that .. if you put in some kind of trust .. its not counted as income .. but its still counted as asset .. so she can get the dole but not the asset tested assistance like health or dental care etc. Nomad (952)
633760 2008-01-25 04:10:00 I am sure she could get a job in Vivian street or K road..

I think she'd starve as a street worker.

Street Cleaner - just fine !

I think the IRD would cotton onto that. Also you would be taxed at the trust rate, which is 33%. Also I think you can only gift a certain amount into a trust each year, and I think is is only about $30,000 a year

She will be assured of Cicero's and C1's votes ;)

You may gift as much as you like, but if you do not want that to attract gift duty then you can only gift $27,000. We are presently gifting our assets to our family trust at the rate of $54,000 per year ($27,000 each).

Although with the amount of income that person is earning I'm certain that tax would be the least of her worries. The tax she pays would probably rival most people's wages.

633766 2008-01-25 06:43:00 Maybe not trust account ... I think Government Bond or something ...
Heard some people had like $200,000 and went on the dole and it wasn't accounted as income.
Think its something unique to WINZ.

633767 2008-01-25 08:49:00 Who cares whether she is employed or unemployed? Whatever it is, she can afford to be unemployed for the rest of her life, or even for her children as well. bk T (215)
