You got something and through a mistake you have not paid for it so of course it is dishonest if you don't pay. If you had never noticed the mistake that would be a different story. |

It is always buyer beware, caveat emptor, I don't see why it isn't seller beware as well. The quick and the dead. That's the way it is these days, and it is the capitalists who made it that way, suck it up. Actually if EB had set up the EFT-POS so that it didn't give a receipt when declined this would never even have come about. |

The dole is available to everyone in NZ, and there are so many jobs out there it's not funny. $150 may not be huge, but it's enough not to need to collect cans if you spend it wisely I knew of someone in the seventies who used to collect cans from rubbish bins and when they died it was discovered that they were almost a millionaire. They may have just wanted the money to spend unwisely. |

| 633455 | 2008-01-31 17:16:00 | Congrats! ;) Bastard . Someone did that to me a while back . About $500 worth of damage, including a broken tail light . I was so pissed of . If i ever did that to anyone I would leave a note with my phone number . People just need to take more friggin care, just cause they have crap ****ty cars doesn't mean everyone else does . Idiots . ******s . Nargh . I watched something like this happen a few years back . I was waiting for my wife who had to get some small things in a large market . . . and there was an illegally parked fully restored baby blue 1958 Cadillac convertible along the red curb in the parking lot . A red curb here is a fire zone or lane and must not be used as a place to park any vehicle but a fire truck of paramedic vehicle . Cadillacs, no matter what age or state of restoration do NOT qualify! Anyway . . . . another vehicle backed into the car as it was exiting it's own space . The fact that the first vehicle was illegally parked does not make it fair game for anyone to hit it . . . but this woman who backed into the car looked around . . trying to see if anyone had noticed the accident . . and seeing me watching her, she then got out, took out a paper and pen and wrote a short note and stuck it under the wiper blade of the vehicle she hit . I thought she didn't write very much . . . not enough to indicate that she put any information on the paper . . . so I took note of her license plate, hair color, type of car, time of day . . etc . She looked rich, well-dressed and very affluent . My wife was still inside the market . . and as I continued to watch this woman drive away, I also noticed another fellow exit the store and seeing the damage on his (illegally) parked car his head started swiveling, trying to see who had run into his car . He then noticed the note on his windshield and at this point I got out of my car and walked over to him . He was furious . . . . . the note said: "Ha-ha . . I hit your car!" I told him not to worry . . that I had all the information, and shared it with him . He also got my name, number and address . . etc . A day or so later, I got a phone call from the "police department" asking me if I had indeed, witnessed the accident . I told the officer that I would call him back (I smelled a rat here) and asked him for his phone number . He refused to give it to me . I hung up . Later on I got a call from an "attorney" . . who also would not give me his phone number . I called the police and reported that activity, and then called the fellow whose car had been hit . . . telling him what had happened . . and offered to be a witness in any legal proceedings that might result . About a month later, I got a phone call from him, thanking me for being involved . . he had gotten a check for the damage and was satisfied . Hit-and-run with damages over $500 is a felony here in California . I hope both she and the phony police and attorney got the max penalty . |

They may have just wanted the money to spend unwisely. Probably some sort of obsessive behaviour. At less than a cent per can they didn't make their almost million by collecting cans. |

| 633460 | 2008-01-31 22:09:00 | The week before Christmas my car was trolleyed in the supermarket carpark. Large dent in the bonnet like a cricket ball has hit it with force and a few scratches. Minor dents and scratches to cars are part of life (my own personal opinion is that cars should be made of rubber so we can bounce off each other at will) but this one is quite major. Fortunately, as the damage comes to about $900, the elderly lady who lost the trolley left a note. The insurance company were most impressed and said she deserved a box of chocolates for owning up. I heartily agreed and dropped one off. It's a bit of a pain. Had to leave the car at the panelbeaters for a few hours for the insurance assessor and next week I lose the car for a week whilst they fix it. But that's life. I think it's the universe balancing things out. I've caused 3 small accidents in my life time and this is the third that's happened to me. What comes around goes around. |

| 633461 | 2008-01-31 22:53:00 | Very good story, but I don't quite get those parts? I think it was the woman's boyfriend/husband who was trying to see if I was really a witness and could identify her in court . . . the "police" or "attorney" was likely a ruse and might have even resulted in offering me a pay-off to be quiet . The fact that they wouldn't let me call back would have given me their phone number and I would have never heard a police or law office receptionist or switchboard operator when I called . One never knows . . but like I said, the guy with the Cadillac got it all repaired . He sent me $50 . 00 for the info . . . no doubt because someone cared enough to take the information and description . |
