633721 2008-01-24 23:23:00 Children are to be vetted for anti social acts:

www.nzherald.co.nz

I don't understand how exactly children will be vetted. Before the kids start school will they have to go to a doctor or psychologist to assess them and then they get a certificate saying they pass or what?

633722 2008-01-24 23:55:00 Hmmm, I quite like the idea, however the execution of these fantasy ideals usually fails to deliver.

I believe there is a considerable percentage of parents out there with very little if any skills or idea how to rear children and it shows with the general lack of respect from children to adults that we all see nowadays.

I see parent training courses as the in between measure against full blown parenting licenses which may one day happen if we dont do something soon.

633723 2008-01-24 23:59:00 Parent training?

You can't train people to care, Nor to do as you want when they resent you.

The problem with NZ is we condone violence.

We?.....just the ignorance, uneducated mate, same ones who dont care.

However if the course is undertaken at an early age, that resentment may not materialise....

I hope that Parents give themselves a course in ethics and morals and teach this to their children.

yes, we. all of us. We have accepted the decisions made by the government, bowed our heads and carried on as society goes to hell and viscious repulsive murders and abuse become commen.

And the resentment is on teh part of the parents, and is passed onto the children, Teach em to hate the "man", and seeing as "the man" is weak they will walk all over him.

The Government is an elected entity. For all those that are of age to vote then they should. There are various mechanisms where people can have their say via select and royal commissions for example.

How many on this forum actually do this I wonder?

I will be voting at the next election this year but I have not yet made up my mind. This because I have not yet heard what the policies will be.

633728 2008-01-25 05:39:00 I'm not even talking about waiting for the next election.

This crap could have been stopped, should have been stopped. In the streets if it came to that.

We have empowered our criminals and the filthy bleeding heart scum who feed off their deeds, we have condoned every violent act that has happened. I can't read the news without revulsion, and plenty of that is for my own in-action.

633729 2008-01-25 06:24:00 If the soft-ass so-called 'justice' system in NZ can't make it right, let's hope this initiative can prevent criminals from being made.

I'm for this initiative. Too many violent criminals today start young - just today a dairy guy got stabbed to death by a 16 year old demanding money, probably for weed and alcohol.

Some of these young criminals also seem to be the result of completely unwanted and unexpected pregnancies to the most irresponsible and repulsively immoral couples. The parents simply have sex with the consequences never crossing their minds.

Let's just hope the counseling will be effective in the future, instead of wasting the $4000-$5000 on each failed miscreants.

633730 2008-01-25 06:53:00 Let the punishment fit the crime.

Cut off a hand for theft. They are only going to do it twice maximum.
Rape - you know where I am going with this (once only offense).
