637033 2008-02-03 08:55:00 Black Magic VCR reached the limit of its programmed date in 2006 and will not now program to record. Year 2002 appears to have similar days/dates but altering the setup to that year has not worked. Any solutions?

637034 2008-02-03 09:21:00 Buy a DVD/HDD Recorder. Otheer than that no. I don't imagine the machine is re-programmable.

The manufacturer musn't have intentend on it lasting that long.

Thanks for that link. I have one of those VCRs too and it's date stopped after 2002. Mine is almost dead, but I use it for the tuner and the date.

Let me see if I understand this.

You use it for the tuner..OK, that I can understand.

...but you use it for the date? Hmm? Are we living in yesteryear?

<edit> Wait! You aren't "dating" the VCR...are you? I'm not sure that even NZ recognizes marriages between a people/person and a digital device.

637039 2008-02-04 00:05:00 No, I use it if I quickly want to see what the time/date is while watching TV, I just press the button on the remote. I have got to say that it was pretty slack of Black Diamond Technology/Melco to create a VCR that had a useby date on it. robbyp (2751)

How many other brands from that era are still usable?
