| 635703 | 2008-01-30 22:32:00 | Looks like Telecom are not only running their help desk from somewhere in the Himalayas, but they are getting their technical staff from the same place Just got them to come in and shift the phone jack point into another room. Firstly I booked him to come this afternoon. He arrived at 9-45 this morning. Secondly it took him three phone calls to me to find the place, even though he had my address. I showed him what I wanted done. quite simple. But he immediately wanted to hook up the sky jack point that has not been connected since the day after it was installed. That spoiled his day. Eventualy he managed to do wahat I wanted.Shouting and sign language seemed to work. As a point of interest my bandwith test now shows 4500KGS. I was getting 4200. And with the removal of a 60 foot cable the place looks tidier |

| 635704 | 2008-01-30 22:37:00 | Telecom's always been as useless and frankly monkey-brained as ever. My brother subscribed for a month's worth of that runescape crap. He called twice, because the first one failed to come through, so we were charged twice anyway. Asked for a refund, said it will be given in next month's bill. Next month's bill comes, no refund. Idiots. |

| 635706 | 2008-01-31 00:56:00 | Just got them to come in and shift the phone jack point into another room . I do not mean to sound nasty, but why don't you shift it yourself? It is, by far, one of the simpler thing to do in this world . There are usually only two wires, but it does not matter how many - maximum four . Note which terminals they were on (all wires colour coded - terminals numbered), disconnect, drill a hole in the floor at the new place, poke the wire up and reconnect . Obviously not a quick job but not in any way technical . Anyone with a smattering of intelligence can do it which is why you don't need qualifications of any note to be a Telecom installer or faultman . I do believe though, that Telecom would not tell you how easy that job is . "Keep the ignorant masses ignorant . " There would be many Telecom employees out of a job otherwise . Telecom also likes to assure their customers that their network is secure . Once again, anyone with any intelligence and a small amount of knowledge of how the network operates will point out to you that the Telecom network is only as secure as it's customers are ignorant . So if you had to pay Telecom to do that job, don't be a silly billy by asking them to do a similar job in future . Have a look at how easy it is and do it yourself . What can go wrong? Almost nothing . The voltage is only 50vDC (for speech) or 80vAC (ringing current) so there is no fear of electrocution . Give it a go . ;) |

| 635707 | 2008-01-31 00:56:00 | I hate Telecom . All off the same Exchange . 1)Internet connection problem - 3 weeks to finally get the Downer guy out to fix it . Telecom messed about with the tunneling then had holidays apparently . 2)Internet connection problem - 1 week to finally get the Downer guy out to fix it . Telecom messed about with the tunneling initially . 4)Internet connection problem - 5 days to finally get the Downer guy out to fix it . Telecom messed about with the tunneling initially . 5)Internet connection problem - 3 days to finally get the Downer guy out to fix it . Telecom messed about with the tunneling initially . 6)Internet connection problem - Still waiting to get the Downer guy out to fix it . This one went down at the same time as number 2 was fixed . 7)Internet connection problem - Still waiting to get the Downer guy out to fix it . Apart from number 1, these all occurred within a day or 2 of each other . |
