2009-06-30 12:24:00 So when the CPU is fully loaded there is usually an audible electrical hissing noise which I suspect is coming from the motherboard. It's most prominent when I run a stressing program such as Prime95 or Intel Burn Test.

Is this something to worry about?

2009-06-30 21:43:00 More likely your graphics card or overclocked cpu.

2009-07-01 00:23:00 I was told the CPU couldn't make noise and it was more likely (yes, the graphics card can be the culprit) the motherboard, most likely a capacitor close to the CPU socket. I was looking around on google and it was suggested it may be because of the voltage changes in the capacitor during the CPU's load. qazwsxokmijn (102)
2009-07-01 00:34:00 Thats quite a high clock you have on the cpu for a kentfield, i wouldnt be surprised if the board is moaning a little! SolMiester (139)
2009-07-01 00:55:00 You reckon I should step it down? I do have a Q9450 coming. qazwsxokmijn (102)
2009-07-01 01:17:00 prolly too late now!, what voltage you running? SolMiester (139)
2009-07-01 01:18:00 You sure its not the fan? SolMiester (139)
2009-07-01 01:33:00 Nope, definitely not the fan. The CPU's being fed 1.38v qazwsxokmijn (102)
2009-07-01 01:49:00 thats high, however the board should be able to cope with 1.5v, what model is it? SolMiester (139)
2009-07-01 01:56:00 Asus P5K vanilla, as in sig. It's really a great cheap board. Some guy on the internet had it on 600MHz FSB..... qazwsxokmijn (102)
