787453 2009-06-30 10:05:00 So how much is Windows 7 worth to you?

Whats a fair price for Microsoft to charge for their new operating system?

What are you prepared to pay to have the latest (and greatest)?

cheers

787454 2009-06-30 10:07:00 Dunno, I got a new PC some months ago. Maybe 3 or 4. I have XP. I just don't see a real reason to change the OS. I mean all my applications work.

I am not even sure if I would upgrade and to spend the time again to redo my HDD.

787455 2009-06-30 10:08:00 Personally I think for a OS the price should be $150 - 180. Full version retail consumer home. Nomad (952)

Vista SP2 x64 is good enough for me.

For a Vista Upgrade, less than $100, especially as it is really just Vista how it should have been . I woul dbe willing to pay $150 for professional with XP compatibility mode . Vista has too many bugs, and microsoft has given up on it . It was a failure, not as bad as windows ME, but pretty bad . Where it is being offered in the USA for $US 50, works out to be less than $NZ100 .

I believe the full retail pricing in the US, will be less than the current Vista pricing . NZ dollar is pretty strong at the moment, so the pricing here should be less, but I wouldn' be surprised if the full NZretail price will be around $400

The thing is windows 7 is less bloated and runs faster than vista. First time they have released a new version that has less hardware requirements than it's predecessor. Therefore if you want a performance upgrade to your computer, installing 7 over vista will help.

787460 2009-06-30 11:00:00 I'll have a play with it later this week.....but if I have to shell out too much money to upgrade from my Vista Ultimate then I'm going to pass..... qazwsxokmijn (102)
787461 2009-06-30 11:08:00 Yup Vista x64 isnt too bad, guess it depends how much ram you've got, on how good / bad it is. I'm using it at the mo with 6 GB. Had a few probs with a few programs, in the end I uninstalled them again. And its been fine. I cant afford Win7 anyway, since I'm not working. So, I'll pass on Win7 for now as well Speedy Gonzales (78)
