787261 2009-06-30 01:54:00 I got a son that's living way out in the wops of Scotland at the mo. He's got a BT hub router. Looking at it onscreen, it looks the same as the telecom hub router here. Has anyone got any info on how to set it up with wireless encryption & mac filtering. The packaging his router came in doesn't include any information on how to set them up, doesn't even tell you what make it is, they must be preset up before delivery. He's got someone leeching on his network & wants to get rid of them.
He hasn't a clue how to do it. I'll have to see how to do it & go through it with him via video conference. We only get one chance to get it right, or it's curtains

Thanks

787262 2009-06-30 01:56:00 Well kill wireless till he fixes it, then use Skype or something. And teamviewer, to get into his system and check it out. Look on the BT site, the info is probably there Speedy Gonzales (78)
787263 2009-06-30 02:26:00 He has to keep wireless going as there are 5 of them in total using the connection. It's the leecher they want to lose. BT are hopeless apparantly Phil B (648)
787264 2009-06-30 02:29:00 Well it wont help, if he continues to use it when its not secure. Too bad about the other 4, they should wait (if he's paying to use it). Its not only the router you have to secure, its the 5 pcs that are connecting to it Speedy Gonzales (78)
787265 2009-06-30 02:53:00 If the guys smart he'll easily get through Mac Filtering.

Download TEamviewer:
www.teamviewer.com

Then go ipconfig in cmd, which will show the default gateway. Type that IP in the address bar to access it's HTTP GUI then configure the wireless from there

787266 2009-06-30 04:31:00 Save the lecturing for someone who's interested. All I'm looking for is the setup information for that particular router

Thanks

787267 2009-06-30 04:32:00 Look on the BT site or ring BT and find out. If he wants to waste bandwidth / pay for it, go for it Speedy Gonzales (78)
787268 2009-06-30 04:40:00 Chill out. ;)

If the people who own the router are unable to configure it, contact whoever supplied the router, and they ought to be able to help.
