787202 2009-06-29 23:38:00 And there is one in there... I can hear it whirring away and can view the files on it, but when I want to add new files ( I do this all the time!!) it is now telling me to insert a CD. I have tried a brand new CD and get the same response...
Please insert a writeable cd into the d: drive....... Where should I go from here and ideas.? Thanks
:confused::confused::confused:

787203 2009-06-29 23:42:00 I am Accessing this thru my computer on my desktop. I am assumeing that because I can still hear it and can view files that the cd drive is not "dead" fluffydog (11346)
787204 2009-06-29 23:47:00 Are you adding more than 1 file to the cd (if its a CDR). Because its probably finalising it (which will stop you adding anything else to it). Which is why its bringing up that message. I would use a separate program Speedy Gonzales (78)
787205 2009-06-30 00:10:00 Thanks Speedy.... It was a cdrw that I was using... one of 4 that I rotate for this backup. What I have done is go and get a cd and see if it would play for me.... came up with a message that there was no "something" (sorry cant remember) available in the audio control. it appeared to be something to do with Itunes? I followed the directions almost,(I couldn't find what I was looking ofr in where it told me to go) went into control panel looked up add/ remove software, went to Itunes and it said something about repair.... so I did, now it works. Thought I would write this all down in case it helps someone else. Thanks for your help. Have a great day. fluffydog (11346)
787206 2009-06-30 00:50:00 Is the New CD you mentioned also a RW ?

RW CD & DVD's are prone to failing and can cause all sorts of problems.

Try using a CDR - not RW. Dont use windows inbuilt writer - use a third party program.
