787180 2009-07-02 00:10:00 I should probably go buy new cd's, the cd-rw's i used where reformated like 3 times and had been sitting in my basement for a while. LarsJohann (13010)
787181 2009-07-05 19:51:00 Ok i've managed to get my hands on some new CD-R's and here's what's happening. I burned the Ubuntu Desktop 9.04 Image in ImgBurn at 24x. This time ImgBurn did not detect any errors and no bad sectors. I went to try installing Ubuntu and i still get :ide-gd: no disk and drive".

It repeats over and over until i am forced to reboot my machine.
If anyone knows possibly why i get this error please let me know.
I know for a fact that the CD drive works perfectly fine in the Mac.

Thanks,

Lars.

787182 2009-07-05 21:39:00 Does this (www.gifford.co.uk) look like the kind of box you're trying to install it on? If so, it might be worth taking a look at that guide - the issues certainly seem on the surface to be similar.

Out of interest, how much ram does this box have?

787183 2009-07-05 23:03:00 That is not the same box but mine is a G3. I'll try and take a look at that guide. I'm not sure how to install it from the guide though. i dont really understand lol. LarsJohann (13010)
787184 2009-07-06 00:26:00 What is currently running on this box? Erayd (23)
787185 2009-07-08 00:17:00 The box is currently running Mac OS 8.6. LarsJohann (13010)
787186 2009-07-08 08:03:00 OK - and what is the reason you can't use BootX? Erayd (23)
787187 2009-07-09 01:56:00 Sorry, i'm not really familiar with Macs. I've never used them in my life. What's BootX? And where can i get it? LarsJohann (13010)
