636570 2008-02-05 00:27:00 Terrorists use the internet too !

I know, I was just responding to PJ's post about how a terrorist would have bombed the cables as one of their first priorities. What I'm saying is that just bombing one, two or even four wouldn't do much as we saw.

636572 2008-02-06 19:46:00 Looking at hat map (great map) I note there are more cables going to Alaska ! than NZ !

They'd better build a couple more for us or we could out of action for weeks !

Have you ever tried to re-solder a fibre-optic cable ?

636573 2008-02-06 19:58:00 Don't use ordinary solder on fibre optic cables!
People mistakenly try to do this using apple's iSolder, thinking that was specified.
What is needed is eye-solder (for repairing tears).

Solder's much older, a splicer is nicer.

636575 2008-02-06 23:16:00 Now the fifth cable has been cut as well.

Anyone noticed a significant drop in international traffic speed?
