635723 2008-01-31 08:02:00 You make it sound so easy, is it something you've actually done much of?

With the help, initially, of a Telecom faultman, I wired my house for a phone jack in almost every room. After a short lecture and some practical I found it simple.

I used to work for Telecom (started in the Post Office days) and my job was dealing with faults. Part of our training was to spend some time with installers, faultmen and cable jointers. I took all the mystery out of it for me.

But these days portable phones make wiring the house unnecessary. One jack is really all that is required - just keep the phone with you and not on the charger. It is a portable phone, so why not keep it portable? Surprising how many people leave it on the charger. Don't understand that!:groan:

Sorry that I did not smell the sulphur on your signature as R2x1 pointed out. So, no, I don't go to Rotorua but if I can help with any advice, please ask. :)

635728 2008-02-01 11:19:00 Begging your pardon, but it IS Telecom. Just because you contract someone to do a job for you doesn't mean you're not responsible. It's all too easy these day for companies to hide behind out-sourcing. If you are paying Telecom to get a job done, then Telecom is responsible for getting it done. End of story.
As a sideline, it must be a piece of cake to get a subcontract from any company that doesn't check on the job. Do only what you feel like doing and clear off!

Yes telecom are responsible, however it is not directly telecom staff that are being employed on the job. It was the intelligence of the subcontractors that was the issue, and not telecom directly.

Perhaps you could try being a bit more open minded, and a bit less abrasive.

Then maybe everyone wouldn't consider you such a knob.

That's a trait that I learnt off you.

Everyone has a mouth, but with a few out there, it is obvious that it is not connected to the brain so it just flops about unaided.:groan:
