787564 2009-07-01 10:42:00 An Antec Neopower 550w could easily handle that, does 12v over 3 rails which is stable and it output can be up to 600w

The Q8200 can be overclocked, but is highly limited due to its 7x multiplier. The Q6600 would be a better choice for overclocking, although the Q8200 at stock speeds is just as fast as the Q6600, yet runs cooler and quieter so would be a better option for the if the OP does not plan to OC.

787565 2009-07-01 10:59:00 Yeah, I just reviewed my pricing and realized that if he doesn't get the 6gb ddr3 and just gets 4gb ddr2 he saves himself $100 and still has a better computer, However the problem is he will have to spend that $100 to upgrade to ddr3 in the future anyway so its probably better to future-proof now. 787566 2009-07-01 11:03:00 Not really. Performance difference is very minimal Blam (54)
787567 2009-07-01 13:42:00 okay i sent in an order for the same items as in the 'cheap' picture... but 8400 dual core and no dvd drive, cooler master should be fine, not keen on paying $200+ for antec. ahhhh

asb wont let me pay them unless i ring first hah... until working hours then... which means there is time for you to convince me otherwise if im making a huge mistake :P

787568 2009-07-01 20:34:00 Computer Lounge, Ascent or Playtech are 3 of the trustworthy places listed on Pricespy. You may pay a bit more, but wouldn't you prefer to sure?

Pconline shop and oczone are another two that I trust a lot, Just so you know (also they regularly have the cheapest price).

787569 2009-07-01 21:25:00 OCZone is the worst...

As for a case-for that price I recommend an Antec 300. Excellent cooling and build quality.

No problems...

One thing though, although it costs more and uses more power; have you considered using two 320's or 2 500's in a raid array?!? this would increase proformance(although im not exactly sure to what extent.

787571 2009-07-02 06:24:00 RAID0 does not provide much increase in speed for normal home use. Maybe 5% Blam (54)
787572 2009-07-02 09:05:00 5% Overclocking for me is the equivalent of 130MHz on my clock speed... Although it may not seem alot it helps. I suppose. PCT Joe (15018)
787573 2009-07-02 11:51:00 lol i dont really care about raid, as long as it kills flies

i already have a 250GB IDE harddrive I was gonna use as a backup drive but I dont even know if mobos these days support IDE anymore, doesn't matter because that just means I can sell my current PC with a harddrive
