787473 2009-06-30 21:59:00 Why do Linux users feel the need to post to this thread?? We already know you aren't interested in buying Win 7 and we couldn't care less. The fact that most of us use Windows in spite of Linux being free, speaks wonders!

I was hoping for an upgrade from Vista Home Premium to be around $100-$150 but fear I will be disappointed!

Also make sure that all drivers are updated.

Has anyone tried the powercfg -energy command?
Gave me about 30 mins of extra battery life:D

And besides, different things suits different people. If Windows suits you, then that's great - from what I hear, Win7 is pretty darn good. And if you prefer something else, then that's fine too :). 787476 2009-06-30 22:56:00 I'll pay for a Professional upgrade, however much it costs me.

This is the very first time I've been impressed with pre-beta versions of Windows. I really really think it's worth paying for :)

Microsoft have done a fantastic job with Windows 7. IMO, this will turn significant numbers of Windows XP users onto 7.

C'mon people - if you bought a PC with Windows XP today, it'd be the equivalent of buying a computer in 2001 with Windows 3.11 on it... go figure :p

787477 2009-06-30 23:21:00 @ Thread title - a lot more than Vista. :D

I never actually paid up front for a Vista license. Microsoft action pack is a great thing.

Don't get so excited. I suspect in another ten years the boot may be on the other foot.

787481 2009-07-01 02:53:00 Forgive the OT post, but standby issues are pretty complex. My current W7 would only wake from sleep once per boot on my previous P5QL-EM mobo. Changed mobo to P5Q Pro and sleep mode is now spot on. Don't ask me why!

Pretty drastic solution to a standby issue! :D Interesting though because I'm running an ASUS P5B-VM motherboard myself, maybe a problem with certain ASUS motherboards?

Yeah, I've had a look there for problems and I've looked for updated drivers. I did have a problem with my Lexmark Z513 printer and I suspect my Logitech keyboard/mouse combo might be have a problem too. I'll keep working on it.

My apologies to the OP for hijacking this thread somewhat. :thanks
