787334 2009-07-01 00:01:00 Unless your system / CPU supports VT the XP shell wont work

I think you will find that it will work but it would have to use binary commands rather hardware virtualisation. Depending on the app, and CPU, this may not be such a big impact!

787335 2009-07-01 00:37:00 Seeing as i payed for Vista i would expect a free upgrade to Win&, however ill be getting it free anyway, through MSDNAA. pantera989 (14533)
787336 2009-07-01 00:50:00 If you have Vista Home Premuim or higher you should get a good value upgrade. wratterus (105)
787337 2009-07-01 00:58:00 Suckers! Its their legal system that forced MS into doing that stuff in the first place anyway!
I really think you need to a bit of homework about the whole situation with MS and the EU. If the USA justice system had done what it needed to the EU wouldn't be having to correct things.

It won't be as good as $50US

787339 2009-07-01 04:04:00 I'd say Microsoft will be annoying and only offer pre-order stuff to US and Canada etc, however that may not rule out shops such as Dick Smiths offering preorder deals.

If you really want 7 on the cheap, get an upgrade version, install Vista, don't bother activating because as soon as install is finished upgrade to whatever 7 version you got. I'm 99% sure doing that doesn't break the EULA.

Groklaw is an IBM mouthpiece (floatingpoint.wordpress.com) isn't it?

Wait a second, ECIS is an IBM mouthpiece (www.theregister.co.uk) too.

ECIS complains to Europe about Microsoft and Groklaw backs them up. That's clever.

A casual reader might think it was two independent organisations complaining about Microsoft, rather than just IBM criticising the competition through two of its mouthpieces.

Edit: Back on topic, it would be really cool if those specials could be offered over here too.
