637043 2008-02-05 18:28:00 You should still be able to play videos on your old VCR. My parents have a black diamond video player that reached the max date in 2002 or 2003. they just set it back to a year that the days fall on the same date every month.

It is pretty much only used for when dad is going to miss coronation street now.

Yeap you can , but it is just annoying when programming it to find the right year that works with the right day. At least Melco have created such a page to help people out.

637045 2008-02-06 05:23:00 I can see the problem. I typed "perpetual calendar" into Google and came up with www.vpcalendar.net

There are only 14 calendars that repeat in a random order. 2008 was last seen in 1980 and prior to that in 1952

637046 2008-02-06 05:32:00 People still use VHS?

It's been dead unofficially for quite some time, I wish people would stop living in an analogue world.

Actually if you do want to continue to view the content of your tapes it may pay to start thinking about a DVD.

Just before Christmas I wandered into DSE with a turntable under one arm looking for a new rubber band. They haven't stocked them since 2006.

And then there's the pile of computer disks of varying sizes and types.
