787101 2009-06-30 00:53:00 I agree, that would be the best solution, but hardware constraints do not permit that kind of configuration

The reason it's as shown in my diagram is that the whole (sub?)network of the Wifi including the linux box needs to be able to be switched off without disruption to the rest of the network, because the linux box etc don't need to be and can't be running all the time.

Also, physical location would be a nightmare.

787102 2009-06-30 01:00:00 pfSense would still be a good option - just put it exactly where you have the linux box in your diagram, and add a firewall rule that denies access to 192.168.0.0/24. That was your wifi clients can get at the net, but can't touch your LAN. And if you want to, you can even set it up so your LAN can connect to the wifi clients, but not the other way around. pfSense is a *very* powerful platform. Erayd (23)
787103 2009-06-30 04:51:00 Im still a fan of the idea of Tomato / DD-WRT on your Wireless AP, and VLAN each network port off, as well as having AP Isolation turned on so the wireless clients cant then see each other also.

That said, there's no denying pfSense is powerful as Erayd has stated.

787104 2009-06-30 06:32:00 I think I will give pfSense a go first, then.

Installing something else to my AP would be nice but I'm pretty sure it's not compatible...

Micronet isn't even in the supported router list :p
