2008-02-03 03:03:00 | The number of cockcroaches is increasing noticeably in the house. What is the most effective ways to deter them away? Other than mosquito sprays in the supermarket, I don't see anything that is especially for cockcroaches. Any suggestions? | bk T (215) | |
2008-02-03 03:28:00 | You can get "No Cockroach Gel Bait". Think I've seen it at the supermarket otherwise hardware stores will have it. And I should add, that having a clean up around the house to find the source of the roaches is a good idea. They do love to live behind fridges (around motor area) where it is nice and warm ...

2008-02-03 03:58:00 | We've used commercial firms before. Last spray on a cockroach invested rental cost $120. Having a suspended ceiling in that house it was a real drama getting rid of the little beasts. The spray was guaranteed for 3 months and he came back twice to get rid of the last few. Problem solved (I hope). The tenants haven't mentioned them since. | Mercury (1316) | |
2008-02-03 04:35:00 | Often they come in new appliances - recently bought a fridge ? :horrified We had a big problem, at one point of time, in our previous house, had to get in professionals. They did have to come back twice, but to their credit they did that and eventually got rid of them,. They can be very persistent !! My advice is "hit heavy... and hit hard !" Misty :groan:

2008-02-03 04:42:00 | Apply a sharp electrical shock between the antennae of the cockroach. 1200 volts should do the trick. Otherwise if electricity makes you nervous, you could just dip the roach in waste oil and hold it submerged for 5 minutes. No waste oil? Boiling concentrated nitric acid will do the job. A teeny guillotine gives a measure of job satisfaction, and makes a pleasant sound.
