636476 2008-02-02 03:56:00 Hmmm (blogs.pcworld.co.nz), with predicted energy crisis's etc you can count on the Yanks to come up with something like that, although could be useful to launch satellites Morgenmuffel (187)
636477 2008-02-02 04:00:00 "Now comes the the slightly alarming news that the US Navy is testing a real-world, ship-to-land version of a railgun - an electro-magnetic weapon popularised by Quake and other shoot-em-ups, albeit in make-believe worlds"

That sounded way too good to be true, then I noticed the grammar error and realized it probably is.

636479 2008-02-02 05:32:00 If nothing else, it should make a pretty good way of braking a naval vessel. Just fire it straight ahead to slow down promptly, although it is unlikely there will then be anything in front to justify the stop.

The iRail is going to be thinner, deadlier and prettier and can be re-loaded from iShells.

636480 2008-02-02 08:56:00 The concept is unworkable in practical terms because of the power requirements .

No, iProducts cannot be reloaded unless sent back to the OEM at around $2m a pop. Expect delivery back in anywhere between 7-10 working days.

The gummermint has been asking us to send them our out-of-fuel-but-still-sparking lighters for a few years now .

I guess they are gonna try piezzo generated electrical charges .

If you want to assist them please send all used but sparking lighters to:

All lighters submitted MUST BE TOTALLY FUEL-DISCHARGED and empty to comply with US Postal laws and regulations .

After you fired the first shot, you wouldn't have a mini left.

I wonder if the Yanks would let the Top Gear lads borrow it, perhaps launch a Reliant Robin at Al Quaeda
