| 636180 | 2008-02-01 04:30:00 | Hey, the other day i logged onto my neighbours wifi (because i was curious, not because i actually wanted to use it) and so i googled stuff about this and there were countless numbers of websites on this, well the laptop i used to do this is now gone, and ive gone over my broadband limit, so i was wondering, if you got my neighbours broadband info like subnet, ip address and gateway, etc would you be able to use the internet if they dont have a password etc. PS im not going to actually do this i was just wondering, becuase i hav a friend with unlimited usage and he said that if i want i can use his. Thanks, and hurray 4 my first post! |

| 636181 | 2008-02-01 04:33:00 | Welcome to PressF1. I'd be a little more careful of your choice of words in the future...that is rather self-incriminating. You no longer have a laptop, but you can use your mates internet? Hmmm... If there is a wireless network up, as long as it has DHCP enabled (an almost certainty) you can simply log on to it and you'll be online. You can't use someones elses internet on your phone line, unless they are with the same ISP as you if thats what your asking. Now PLEASE go over to your neighbours and tell them to encrypt their network, and don't steal other peoples internet. It's really not cool. |

| 636183 | 2008-02-01 04:38:00 | I was doing some work the other day at a construction site and I decided to check my emails on my iPod Touch, I found 4 wi-fi signals, 3/4 were password protected, but the 4th one I used and it was great. Please go over to your neighbours and tell them encrypting their network is bad :P |

| 636187 | 2008-02-01 07:25:00 | 1. welcome to the forums 2. don't, under any circumstances, ask advice on how to conduct illegal activity here. 3. Be a good guy and tell your neighbors to protect their network. 4. If your 'friend' tells you you're allowed to use his network, go for it, no need to come here and ask. |
