787021 2009-06-29 08:40:00 ... in the recent upgrade of AVGFree, they dropped Win98 support.

I have a Win98 box that does my emailing and runs a couple of Win98 only applications.

Someone told me that there is a good free Antivirus program that still runs under Win98 SE. But I can't find it anywhere.

Any suggestions?

I offered a laptop for free on here, and two minutes later Speedy PMed me saying he wanted it :D

Anyway, x2 for Avast.

787027 2009-06-29 10:08:00 This is exactly what happened to me on 98-the no longer supported AVG. So I switched to Avast, and it conflicted with ZoneAlarm, so I dumped that and got Sygate and now it all works. Just a tip. You dump one program and get another don't think it's all going to work. mark c (247)
787028 2009-06-29 10:41:00 wow, people still use 98?.....its like the most unsecure o/s ever....and you are running e-mail on it...get much spam? SolMiester (139)
787029 2009-06-29 10:42:00 Sygate and Avast on Win98SE?

I'll have to remember that...

787030 2009-06-29 10:53:00 I typed...Active Antivirus for MS Windows 98.... & got suggestions.

Wouldn't W98 be safe from a lot of the crap that is aimed & XP, for instance? Why would any of the design hackers be bothered with an obsolete OS. No fun in causing damage there !!!! PJ
