638199 2008-02-07 06:32:00 Article on the chaps from Waikato who tracked a stolen laptop via an SSH connection, got the thief's ISP credentials, and even dropped an app on it to activate the onboard webcam and upload pics of the thief every 2 minutes back to their server . . . . . awesome! :D nofam (9009)
638200 2008-02-07 06:39:00 I heard about it when the show started, but didn't see it.

Taking pics of the thief is priceless.

A few months ago my brothers cell phone ($700 phone) got stolen, and the guy who stole it tried to get the num changed over at Telecom, but they wouldn't let him because it had been reported stolen. But anyway, bro got it back and the thief left a nice video of him and his friend on it, so bro knew who had stolen it.

638206 2008-02-07 17:29:00 Yes, I saw that item . Very interesting . I hope the thief also saw the broadcast . If he did, he should feel small enough to be able to sit on a 50 cent coin without his feet touching the floor:)

Yeah, like they were saying, software that makes this possible for the average joe is already available but if it's a freeware replacement for the commercial versions (www.orbicule.com) then more power to 'em.
