Has anyone had any experience with galaxy cards seeing as there $200-300 less then other brands of the same card? I Have a Galaxy GeForce 9800GT Low Power Edition, No problems so far, however its probably not even up to a month old yet. Im quite impressed with it, I would have gotten asus or gigabyte but I was cost conserving. |

| 788507 | 2009-07-03 11:54:00 | Well thats why i was looking at the Galaxy, because for the same price with asus gigbyte or XFX i would only be able to get a GTX250 or 260. Is the only difference between the brands a 1 year and a 3 year warranty, or are the cards actually worse? |

Well why do you think there is such a difference in warranty? ASUS actually make their own cards, they don't just stick a new label on one. They all use the same main chip, but the rest of the card varies a lot as to quality of components used. Thats why the difference. |

| 788510 | 2009-07-03 23:04:00 | Longer Warranty doesn't have to mean better hardware, as the extra price could be making up for the larger amount of cards they have to fix/replace. | pantera989 (14533) | ||
| 788511 | 2009-07-04 00:52:00 | Apart from the cooler (and some of the cheap ones have horrible cheap fans that can easily fail) The component which probably varies most in quality across different brand PC components would be the capacitors. ASUS and some others usually use the higher quality Japanese ones, whereas the cheaper brands just go with whatever cheap Chinese ones they can get their hands on at the time. Needless to say these cheap capacitors can fail much earlier than the others, and tolerate high temperatures a lot less. Go to www.badcaps.net if you want to read more info |
