| 788156 | 2009-07-02 07:32:00 | I am in the process of setting up my spare computer to use as a backup location. I have acronis true image which will do the scheduled backups nicely from my understanding of reading the help files I should do a full backup then I can do incremental backups to the same folder, only thing is it always creates a new file for the incremental backup hence over time my HDD will get full quickly. What i want to know is there a free alternative that will backup my whole drive but always overwrite the previous backup? thus saving me space as I want to backup 3 computers to the drive I have spare. :thanks in advance |

| 788158 | 2009-07-02 08:23:00 | will it always overwrite the older version? I thought true image would but i can't find anything in the help file that says it will. Think I will just try it out and see | gary67 (56) | ||
| 788159 | 2009-07-02 08:37:00 | In Acronis create 2 tasks. One a full backup to run weekly and the other to run daily set as incremental. Every week you have a full backup and the rest are incremental. Issue is if the fullbackup fails and you need it then you loose the lot. You can always double up the tasks. |
