| 638602 | 2008-02-13 04:54:00 | For those with the hard line approach I hope you lead exceptionally squeaky clean utterly boring lives. Things to absolutely and utterly avoid doing at all cost include: - Allowing your attention to wander AT ALL whilst driving and make sure you stick totally to the speed limit. It would be a calamity if you were to speed slightly, lose it, over correct and kill or seriously maim a pedestrian or motorcyclist. - Totally avoid having "one for the road". Or drinking at all when planning on driving either that night or the next day after a binge. Consequences of that in the above situation would be worse - Avoid alcohol. That embarrassing moment could be taken the wrong way or your behaviour might change to unacceptable - Keep to, or below, the speed limit whilst passing schools. Have eyes in all directions to avoid darting kids. Better still, take routes that avoid schools, parks, or places where children live - Stay TOTALLY away from pre-marital sex. You never know if your partner for the night will have a change of mind come morning or months, if not years, later - Be careful if taking on a spouse. If things go wrong it can turn ugly and charges can be laid - Never, ever smack a child - Never, ever be alone with a child or a person of the opposite sex. Historic charges can result - Don't go on school camps, guide camps, scout camps. Ditto. - Avoid taking people out on a boat. If it sinks and people drown you may be charged - Don't start or run a company. If an employee has an accident or suffers stress you will be for it - Avoid any position in management. Ditto. ... Oh no, that's right. You don't need to avoid anything. You are perfect. |

We do not live in a perfect world and never will. Some people have backgrounds you never dreamed of, others have diagnosed or undiagnosed mental or physical illnesses, others are led to believe from televison and advertising that it is their "Right" to have what others have. Others are sheep who follow the wrong leaders. Some have more than one of the above problems or one of a multitude of others. Divorce and/or warring parents can have a major impact on some kids. As a friend of mine once said, "If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem". Try mentoring someone less fortunate than yourself or donating your time to a community organization that needs help before you stand in judgement over others. |

| 638605 | 2008-02-13 06:09:00 | You mean like jails in Latin America, the Middle East or many parts of Asia? Do you think to yourself, "Gee, those places have nasty jails and clean streets with no crime! It's a winning formula!" I think that about Singapore and Brunei all the time. |

I suggested the solution, deportation or a permanent sentence. I'll help out, I'll turn the key and throw it away if you want. |

| 638610 | 2008-02-13 08:26:00 | Obviously some have never read this. Quote: IMMIGRANTS , NOT NEW ZEALANDERS, MUST ADAPT. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT! I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individuals or their culture. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming To New Zealand. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of New Zealand being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As NewZealanders,we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. Our culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who havesought freedom, even died for it. We Speak ENGLISH or MAORI , not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian or any other lanuage. Therefore if you wish to become part of New Zealand society, -- Learn the language! "In God we trust "is our national Motto. This is not some Christian, rightwing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then it is recommended that you consider another part of the world as your new home, Because God is part of our culture. If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A FAIR GO", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, AND OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every oportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and or griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way Of Life, then you are Highly encouraged to take advantage of one other great New Zealand freedom: "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE" LEAVE If you aren't happy here then bugger off! We didn't force you to come here. YOU asked to be here. So Accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy really, when you think about it I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later, get back to the complainers, lets all try; I for one endorse the sentiments. |
