| 637693 | 2008-02-08 19:20:00 | Well how well do you pave roads? How well do you manage the health system? And what do you do for education? I'd say the state does a lot more than the individual. Except in your case, obviously you do everything better than this devil worshipping female led bleeding heart cissy government. Otherwise you wouldn't be posting here would you? What I want to know is how a government tells us there's a surplus when the health system needs so much help. $11b would go a fair way to that. Tax cuts ARE just bribing us with our own money. Just spend the money, and make sure it's on something good. Buy telecom back, and do something good with it, because they certainly aren't.I agree that $11b would do a lot of good for the health system - short term. But it then the health system would get used to that level of expenditure and we'd be back to square one. Health is a bottomless pit as far as funding goes - there's never enough and there never will be. Not that I know what the solution is here... but it has to involve efficiency gains to make efective use of the funding levels they have. But the efficiency improvements should NOT be decided upon by bean-counters alone, nor by 'healthcare professionals' alone! |

| 637694 | 2008-02-10 22:40:00 | I like Michael Cullen. He's intelligent, witty & has a sense of humour. I also believe he has the best interests of our country at heart. That doesn't mean I agree with all of his party's policies at all. But those of us who LISTEN to parliament on radio, rather than just viewing TV snippets, know that it'll be a sad day when he leaves. They're a dull & boring lot otherwise at present. His repartee is a rare bright spot. And as a Dunedinite (which is where he was a local MP for years before going on the list), I can personally vouch for the fact that he's a Nice Feller. He isnt even a voted MP, but a listed MP, he is guaranteed his seat. So much for democracy. That aside he is a condescending A**, his sarcasm humor an equal measure of his wit, namely the lowest!. Local MP for Dunedin, but he lives here in Napier and plays golf at Taradale Club, and strangely enough plays by himself. Now if that is not measure of the smug b**tards attitute, I told know what is. I dont know anyone who plays golf on their tot! I hate the guy, the check of waving his tax carrot on election year, LOL, he is either blindly stupid if he think the public will fall for that or totally arrogant. :2cents: |

Nationalism - the last refuge of a scoundrel, with Mr Lego Man, John Key, to lead them. |

The health spend went up 27% in labours last term, yet not ONE extra doctor or nurse was employed , it all went in bureaucratic spending, so don't fret too much about any cuts in health spending, hopefully an office or two in Wgnt will become vacant soon. Oh..and labour doesn't give jobs to the boys? Ministry of the environment communications manager ring a bell? |
