2008-02-06 21:49:00 | Well why would you want a terabyte HDD? Why would you want a ferrari? Why would you want a nice Mont Blanc pen when a Biro is often more reliable? Bragging rights, fun and just sheer silliness. I can't imagine the aerodynamic-ness of a comp ever being put to the test, unless you want to play crysis while wing walking.

2008-02-06 22:29:00 | A terabyte HDD? Stupid. 2 of them? Getting better. Perhaps the "aerodynamic-ness" of a computer is the inside airflow related-ness? That is important and efficient. To put it to the test, use the thing ;) A Mont Blanc Pen is often useful as an indicator of gullibility.

2008-02-06 22:37:00 | But the inside of a computer isn't aerodynamic is it? You're right though, he was talking about efficient airflow, or at least good airflow, even if it's not efficient. You could say the same for houses, pens, LCD screens, or any number of things. People aren't interested in function mostly, just form. Just look at what some people put up with personality wise to have a good looking wife. | Thebananamonkey (7741) | |
2008-02-06 22:41:00 | Aerodynamics without efficient airflow? That would be a bit novel ;) | R2x1 (4628) | |
2008-02-06 22:44:00 | But it's not about aerodynamics is it? It's about airflow, and the two are different. no matter how efficient the fan is (electrically) if it's a big mother then it will be ok. Otherwise Asus would own a wind tunnel wouldn't they? | Thebananamonkey (7741) | |
2008-02-06 22:54:00 | Hmm. Silly me - I had thought that aerodynamics involved making airflows achieve a desired purpose as efficiently as possible. Could you please tell me what it actually means? Oh, just BTW, wing walkers with a PC wouldn't just be PLAYING at crysis, they'd be having one. ;)

2008-02-06 23:08:00 | Lol. Well I suppose I got confused. But I meant, you don't need an aerodynamically efficient computer, but I suppose it does need to have aerodynamic properties... unless you're this guy www.tomshardware.com But it doesn't matter how efficient it is, as long as it does it. Otherwise you'd ditch your fans for giant complicated heatsinks wouldn't you? It's not about efficiency, it's about getting the job done.

2008-02-06 23:09:00 | But you're right too... I'm just getting distracted from work. Who's inefficient now? | Thebananamonkey (7741) | |
2008-02-07 00:25:00 | Less of the four letter word if you please ;) With that Tom's Hardware article you complain of distraction? SWMBO is going to be pleased with my plans - no fan noise any more. ("Pleased" may be a variable here.) If cooking oil is replaced by kerosene, and a circulating system passes through the fridge, will she notice? Should be alright, but as a surprise project ! With kerosene, any odd smells can be blamed on floor polish.
