Nope, That's the guy that owns the company.

The guys in the diggers know more about what they are doing then I do, Plus one of them is managing the entire job, Waste of time me putting my 2 cents in.

Lmao.

Which is why I was the one taking photo's.

638848 2008-02-09 16:31:00 I have to wonder.... the cabs of those machines... do they have special shatter-resistant glass?

I hate to imagine a bit of flying debris going through and taking the operator out!

It is quite reassuring that there's a heavy steal "rollcage" of sorts over the cabs - Metla, do they use glass for the windows of those cabs, or some form of high-density polycarbonate?

638851 2008-02-09 20:38:00 Its glass, and they do get smashed, But very rarely.

The cabs over the operator are built to OSH specs and can cost about 50 grand to design, build ,get certified and fit.

Nope, Though I didn't notice I hadn't done one untill I went to post them.

Figured I would leave well enough alone....With my avatar of Satan, My sig that Heavy Metal will kill you, My location being listed as Beyond Salavation and untill recently my user title casting me in the role of The dark lord of this world....I didn't want to push my luck.

638854 2008-02-09 23:00:00 Hi arnie... re: This same company got the 6 month contract for the Haast Pass Road in South Westland and completed it in 6 weeks. Did they build the bridge at the Gates of Haast? The one that got washed away shortly after the road was opened? Scouse (83)
638855 2008-02-10 20:58:00 Very few get to drive the big gear,

So how does one get to "drive the big gear"? Do they have to go on a course or do they get trained up on the job? How do they get to be chosen for this?
