So it would have to be a well-dressed terrorist . |

If we run true to form a bit of community service or if we decide to be really mean perhaps Home Detention for a couple of months. She has been charged with, among other things, hijacking - for which the maximum penalty is life imprisonment. I guess that makes us like "most countries"...? |

| 638545 | 2008-02-08 20:17:00 | How could she get a knife past security checkpoint??? She got on at Blenheim Airstrip/Airport. It is not much bigger than your average Bus Stop. The staff don't even bother to or need to lock their cars when they come to work there. Country towns work on trust, unlike cities. One crazy in all the years Blenheim Airstrip has been in business does not really call for multi million dollar Security Scanners. |

The Pilot has got a lot to answer for. :( He should have given her her first Sky Diving lesson. ;) Now all of us will have to feed and nurture her while the Bleeding Hearts compose some lame brain excuse. :( So very very true |

At the smaller domestic airports, there is virtually zero security screening. You walk through the gates, onto the tarmac, and into the plane, before they even check to see if you have a boarding pass. The reality is, the chances of a hijacking or other attack happening here are just too small to justify the cost and inconvenience of paranoid security screening. |

Umm, have you even been there? Sure, it's small, but it's a crap load bigger than Oamaru's "airport" (if you could call it that) I knew people that work / worked there, and they all lock their cars. And where do you get country town from? It's Blenheim, not a town with 2 shops in the middle of no where. |
