Generally a clean install gives you less problems than an upgrade.

Also, as Blam6 mentioned previously, there are ways of doing a clean install using an upgrade disk (here's one (www.winsupersite.com)).

yup, I got mine from uni :D

you can also get xp, windows7 ultimate, and tone loads of stuff for free.. :D
