788146 2009-07-02 09:17:00 Vista 32bit with SP1 shows the additional ram. Tuneznz (13203)

Well yeah, or that:p

Either way they're both miles better than XP..

788148 2009-07-02 10:30:00 I recommend 64bit Vista. It may run slightly slower yes, but it has much wider and better driver support.

64bit offers more RAM, and for programs written specifically with a 64bit CPU and OS in mind, will run a bit faster.

Eh, x64 Vista is heaps faster than x86!.....why, well, for a start alot of the system files are available to the o/s, as the code has more resources, its runs faster.....period..

788149 2009-07-02 10:35:00 I mean Vista is slightly slower than XP, not 64bit over 32bit:p Blam (54)
788150 2009-07-02 10:55:00 Wouldn't vista actually be faster if vista only had to load the same processes as xp, so in reality it just seams to boot slower because there is more having to be initialized? Tuneznz (13203)
788151 2009-07-02 11:08:00 No. Vista IMO is slower because of the extra eye candy Blam (54)
788152 2009-07-02 11:36:00 Glorious eyecandy.... I really do like vista's GUI compared to xp at school the systems run the 98 style theme on the xp systems, also with W7 I have tried the Beta ?7001Build? and Absolutely HATED the taskbar, It was horrendously annoying (IMHO) Tuneznz (13203)
788153 2009-07-02 11:48:00 This article (www.tomshardware.com) on Tom's Hardware may be worth a read too Chikara (5139)
788154 2009-07-02 21:47:00 Hi all,

Thanks for all that

By the look of it - until I go 100% w 7, it is a waste of time to change

It was well worth the query though
:thanks
