...

Why would you want to sacrifice speeds like that for "unlimited" usage ... Bet they wouldnt reach anywhere near those speeds anymore, but then again Im feeling rather pessimistic about anything Telecom says these days in relation to broadband.

hhmm, how much data do you go through a month? I'd say its a cheap way to get a large amount of data (60gb+).

I notice on my connection it is fast during the day and slows noticably during peak hours (4 till midnight), so they already throttle the unlimited go large plans.

787982 2009-07-02 00:49:00 I'm still on Go Large....can't be bothered going through the whole process of pulling out, then getting on with another useless POS ISP after all the nightmare ihug and xtra put me through.

Go Large speeds aren't THAT bad anymore, but dropouts are often and sometimes speed fluctuates a lot. But really, I can't be bothered anymore!

787983 2009-07-02 02:37:00 Nope, Go Large is still running - old customers are still on it.

I'd say this plan is identical - apart from being more expensive and you know its going to be slow before signing up for it.

they were probhably moved to adventure without prior notification.
happened to me, was sent an email notifying me after they did it.

787984 2009-07-02 02:40:00 "The catch is that Telecom will ration network capacity, so videos, music and software patches might download slowly, particularly during peak hours on the internet, between 3pm and 11pm."
from that link in 1st post.

787985 2009-07-02 02:59:00 I wonder if this will have uncapped upload speed as well. I'm on Go Large and managed to download about 140GB last month but my upload is still capped at 128kbs. If this plan has the 128kps cap removed i will have to switch or just ask Telecom to remove upload cap on my current Go Large plan. The Go Large plan can be very good as long as you use a good download manager to achieve maximum benefits. possum (15061)
787986 2009-07-02 05:39:00 Or there is Clearnet... I am of the belief they are the only company that doesn't buy its internet through telecom (self imports) BUT I might need to be corrected. Tuneznz (13203)
787987 2009-07-02 06:23:00 It's a pity you can't "trial" broadband plans for a month before signing up on a contract (except on Orcon) :annoyed:. davidmmac (4619)
787988 2009-07-02 09:15:00 I have been on the Go Large plan since the introduction. Speeds are ok generally, though youtube in the evenings is rather a crawl. Upload speed is to slow. Use an average of approx. 20GB.
Have been thinking of switching to Adventure or even switch to Naked DSL and VOIP.
Haven't heard of anyone yet in the region who has been on an internet only plan.

Interesting - It would be really good to know just how much they would throttle speeds. I'm still on the original Go Large plan at home, and things slow to a crawl in the evenings - international speeds would be down to 15 - 25kb/sec, where the other morning at around 2am, i was downloading from Aussie at over 500kb/sec. Very annoying - but it's great. :p Between the 7 of us who use the connection, we go through around 60 - 100GB a month.

Can't see it being any good for customers on a normal plan.

Why pay $60 and get dial-up speed.

787990 2009-07-02 11:12:00 I'm on ICONZ it costs us $250 a month for 250GB, the speeds are excellent except the ping is pretty horrible at times, other times it fine or 'awesome'. I think this issue has more to do with them using telecom's lines in my area. PCT Joe (15018)
