Or helping with community sports and activities to keep them occupied instead of wandering the streets?

Initiatives like that are rife in Auckland. They just choose to wander the streets tagging and making other kinds of troubles. But once again, what happens with the ones that are already on the darker paths?

Thank You Metla. What people don't realize is the seriousness of the crimes committed and harm inflicted by people who we should be "Mentoring" and "Looking after by giving them even more money" on normal, decent people.

Whats the point in mentoring anyway Mercury? I'm going to get knifed or have my car stolen anyway. Mentoring works- Yeah right. We need to be softer and spend more money on useless POS'- Yeah Right.

BTW, Mercury do you mentor such people and organize community sports/events- Just asking, not passing judgement BTW. 		beeswax34 (63)

And our contribution?

Spent years whilst the kids were in primary school building the school pool which has both school and community use now.

Been on many school camps and helped out with school discos during that time as well.

And the whole family were involved in Guides for a few years. My daughter is still heavily involved now.

And yes, I've helped a young man in his 20s turn his life around.

Small contributions but you'd be surprised how hard it is to find volunteers for any of the above. 		Mercury (1316)
