| 637334 | 2008-02-04 08:21:00 | We have a special and unusual way of calling our cat. It's hard to describe, but it sounds a bit like a sloppy kiss. We have been using this method for some years because when, as newlyweds, we had our first cat, I heard my wife calling the cat. "Puss, puss, puss," she called, loudly. I knew that I had to stop her immediately. "You can't do that," I said. "Think of what the neighbours will say!" My wife was at a loss as to why I would insist on her not using such an innocent (to her) phrase. You see, my wife is not from this country and has a rather strong accent. When I told her how it sounded, she agreed. Instead of, "Puss, puss, puss," it came out, "Piss, piss, piss.":groan: |

| 637336 | 2008-02-04 08:39:00 | could you explain your signature, i dont get it A bit off the subject, but certainly. Culpability is deserving or involving blame, the latter in this case. So if you are ignorant by choice (on certain subjects perhaps) - and there are many perfectly normal and sane people who are - then you choose to be ignorant and it is a predetermined act, usually with an unprovoked spite (malice.) That's about the best I can do to explain. Hopefully that makes sense to you? |

| 637337 | 2008-02-04 09:04:00 | I have a special way of calling my two cats. Clang their bowls together ( and yes I meant bowls that they eat from ) ! My two cats are female and also speyed. Reminds me of a Samoyed I had some years back. He used to sit down by the letterbox. I would open the front door and call,"Sammy" and not an ear would twitch. Close the door, go inside and open the Fridge door and within a few seconds he was inside through the back door. In this way I determined he was not deaf. :-) Before you ask why I called him Sammy I refer you to this link:- en.wikipedia.org(dog) I never took him to a fillum (film or movie though). Just lately I have wondered whether I should have a Lemur as a pet but I decided against it for various reasons which I will not go into in this post. |

I agree that there are people on PressF1 who remember who posted what and to whom and maybe want to shove a post back to a poster. In fact I am one of those people from time to time. Would you agree that you are poking fun at people every now and then? Possibly you have a closed mind. I am ignorant by choice as I have no desire to to be a brain surgeon, motor mechanic or many other occupations there are available to various people. As I have said in the past, "What I do know will fill a book and what I do not know will fill a library." Updating that I can also say that I learn by experience day to day. But you know this anyway as you know what I am thinking. Your may be taking the p**s or not. That just to get back on subject. |

"Malice" has nothing to do with this thread, anyone in F1 or anywhere else. I was asked to explain my signature and I did so. I said to AMD3ALL3THE3WAY3, that it was a bit off the subject, but I did not mind explaining what it was about. It seems that you may not have read my reply properly. You're very quick to take umbrage. Perhaps you need to read and digest a little more before you comment?:) |

| 637340 | 2008-02-04 18:59:00 | But back to the subject: I liked your story about the fridge door. Sammy is obviously not deaf, but he is also very obviously not silly either. Its very clear that he knows and understands the difference between his name being called and the sound of his food being accessed. Cats are very astute and, in most cases, quite sagacious. Many people like to extol the myth that cats cannot be trained, but Sammy had told you that's not true. Although the training may not have been deliberate, trained to the sound of the fridge door he is. The clanging of the bowls is another method of training. Have you ever heard of an asinine cat? Never! They know when and where their next feed is coming from. Clang the bowls and they'll come running from the four corners. And if you want to see trained, our cat will sit, on command, before she is given her food (why? Because we can) and will go to her bed when told. |

| 637341 | 2008-02-04 19:00:00 | I think it's quite cruel to hit the balls of two cats together. I did read that right, didn't I? I thought that as there is a tendency not to carefully read each others posts,I would keep up the tradition.:) |

Reminds me of that ad that used to be on TV that said something like "cats used to be worshipped in Egypt; and some cats have never forgotten that" . We used to own cats when I was a kid . As soon as the fridge door opened, thery were usually quite nearby . However, they couldn't just dart to the bowl once it was put on the ground . . . they were trained to stand on their back legs (haunches?) long enough for Dad to stroke the entire length of their head/backs before they dropped to all fours and got to eat |
