640151 2008-02-14 04:54:00 Hows this for "good service" - got a customer who has had problems with her Internet connection for 8 days, shes with Ihug - she has rung Ihug every day asking if they could please fix her ADSL - Ihug say it's Telecom problems - Telecom Say its Ihugs problem.

She finally called me in because Ihug said its a faulty ADSL modem and to get a Service tech to change it.

SO - changed the Modem - you guessed it same problem. We rang Ihug again and got ducked shoved from person to person. This was to much for the lady and finally broke down crying - FINALLY I said to the guy - ( polite version) Right Fix this - its not a Modem fault, and the Telstra Cable outside is looking mighty inviting at the moment - He said he would - I took his full name and said if its not fixed we will hold him responsible. He looked at something and I heard him go - Awhh S**T - OK try that - YESSSS its working.

Now why do they suck - the lady told him she wants some sort of compensation for 8 days since it was Ihugs fault all along. - Fair enough the guy said, he'll sort it out and email a decision.

She got a reply today - $45 credit AND a $27 CHARGE for fixing the FAULT :horrified _ IHUG stuff up, admit it - and then charge the customer for THEIR STUFF UP !! :groan:

640152 2008-02-14 05:04:00 If it was Telecom, it would've been 8 months. --Wolf-- (128)
640153 2008-02-14 05:25:00 oh, waffle cr*p! i had a problem with telecom internet (turns out my gardener shoved hi shovel into the telephone line, telecom came over the next day and fixed it free of charge! the phone service was pretty standard, took about 20mins till we got to the right person. Another time we had trouble connecting for the first time, 10 minutes after dialing 0800 000 000 problem was solved!
Telecom has just had some bad publicity, most of the time there ok, wolf, i wouldnt listen to everything on tv, its ussualy one sided!

Rubbish, telecom are reasonably efficient. People love to knock telecom, because they are seen as the big bad company, but their customer service is superior to many other ISPs that I have dealt with.

Aren't IHug now Vodafone. I think it is best to refer to them by the Vodafone brand, and they aren't known for their cusomter service, based on some of the stories that Fair Go have run on them.

640156 2008-02-14 05:38:00 Every ones missing the punch line -
She got a reply today - $45 credit AND a $27 CHARGE for fixing the FAULT _ IHUG stuff up, admit it - and then charge the customer for THEIR STUFF UP !! Ihug Blamed Telecom - Telecom Blamed IHUG and wouldn't even look at the problem - FINALLY IHUG had a problem - they admitted it - and now are charging the customer for a Problem they had. NOT the customers fault. - Thats SUCKS.

The whole point is these companies are always quick to blame someone else.

640157 2008-02-14 05:41:00 Why are people all of a sudden defending Telecom? The amount of times I've had to talk to someone in charge there when I used to ring up after they charged us $$$ for no reason on our account (over several different occasions) simply becuase

Their staff suck, all they say is "next month"
And that's all I can understand too.

640158 2008-02-14 05:48:00 maybe telecom is just picking on you like some people on PF1! lol, just kidding, i'm on ur side, people shouldn't gang up - it should be one on one.

wainuitech, are you asking for a next step for getting money back, or are you just spreading the rage!

I have had that problem before with a billing, but they reversed it and also gave me a free credit for the inconvenience.

Refering to Vodafones service, like many reseller ISPs of ADSL, the first port of blame is to put the blame on telecom, rather than investigating it themselves. I had this same issue when I was with Slingshot, they often put the blame on telecom for my disconnections and contant login problems, but since I have been with Xnet, I haven't had a single problem for the last 6 months or so. The login systems are also handled by the ISPs own servers, and not by telecom.
It is terrible service of Vodafone to not investigate the issue, and that is what it really comes down to, bad service from Vodafone, and they should really offer a credit for the inconvenience, rather than billing you for a service you have already paid for. I didn't know Vodafone billed you for customer service help.

640160 2008-02-14 06:08:00 wainuitech, are you asking for a next step for getting money back, or are you just spreading the rage! This forum is in " general chat" not a help like F1 SO - Not really a question - I have advised her that she shouldn't have been charged for a problem Her ISP had, and shes going to query it.

The question or really statement is about - people should be careful and look at their invoices - some places "add in charges" that they shouldn't really be getting.

One thing that comes to mind is with Xtra - if you have a dial up connection and then switch to ADSL - they used to charge you for both unless you asked to cancel the dial up, until lots of people complained / questioned it and now they don't charge for the dial up - but do keep your dial up account active - no charges - in case the ADSL goes down. This was told to me from a Xtra help desk person.

Remember the Fair go program regarding people getting charged for the phone rentals over years and years - it wasn't till Fair go questioned it that many people didn't even know just how much they paid for a rental phone.

LOTS of people canceled the rental and went and brought their own phones. How much were Telecom creaming off that over the years.
