2009-07-06 11:34:00 | Hey guys im looking at upgrading my Mobo and CPU, Im looking at about $600 total in upgrades. is anyone able to help me So far I've found the P5Q Pro (www.asus.com) Playtech link: www.playtech.co.nz If there anything better than this please let me know, I want to be able to dual channel up to 1600MHz ram. And have a quad. Also whats the best quad?!? I can overclock. EDIT: I know that there's going to be a release new i3 i5 and i7 CPU's soon. is it worth holding out till then?!? I'm looking at a 2 month wait to get the funds together.

Mobo is an excellent choice, a possible alternative for your price range could be the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R. Both have their advantages and disadvantages:) Best quad for you price range would be the Q9400 or the Q6600. The Q6600 eats quite a bit of power but offers an easy OC. Runs a bit hot too. The Q9XX series is a bit faster at stock speeds and also runs very cool :) Blam |

2009-07-07 03:30:00 | I'd go for the P6T. | Blam (54) | |
2009-07-07 10:48:00 | kk, So P6T, a 920 and 6gb ddr3-1600 ram. Hm.. Well it looks like about 1k of investment. How much will the new chips cut that by?!? maybe 20%

2009-07-07 13:13:00 | The 920 is EOL so stock will likely run out the door. Well it is at Playtech anyway. The i7 is high end. CPU's in the future will cost you a boat load as that's what they're aiming for (looking at 1k+). i3/i5 will instead replace the lower end up to the 950 (before that is also removed). i3/i5 also has on-die PCI-e link which would suit single GPU users better (the i7 doesn't have this).
