| 788874 | 2009-07-04 07:03:00 | Hi all, I have an old tecra 8000 and have installed a copy of Puppy on it. The screen is stopped on a message showing: "Loading vmlinuz................. Loading image.gz.................... Ready Unizaming linux...done Booting the kernel blinking cursor" I understand this could take a while but it has been a couple of hours now. Is this normal or is something amiss? cheers |

| 788875 | 2009-07-04 08:06:00 | Something is definitely amiss. Some computers do take a long time to boot the kernel, but I have yet to hear of a few hours. 10 minutes max maybe. Tried to reboot? From your post I assume you are booting from harddrive? IIRC Puppy also has a live CD environment, tried booting to that? |

Puppy is brilliant, even includes part-edit partition manager, so you can format your drive as you wish, and most of the software you would normally use. Booting should not take more than a couple of minutes. |
